What's New...at Mobile OB-GYN, P.C.

Mobile Ob-Gyn, P.C. Welcomes
New Female Physician

Committed to Progressive Women's Care,
Dr. Melinda Frame the Established Practice

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Melinda Frame to our practice! Dr. Frame attended college in Johnson City, Tennessee, at East Tennessee State University and also attended medical school there at the Quillen College of Medicine. She did her residency in Savannah, Georgia, at Mercer University's Memorial Health.

Dr. Frame met her husband, Jeff, at college. They began dating her sophomore year, and she says that they have "been best friends ever since." Jeff grew up in Florida, and he loves the outdoors. He spent a lot of his youth learning to hunt with his dad. During the couple's time in Georgia, he spent as much time fishing in the marsh as possible. Dr. Frame says that she and Jeff love to go for walks, and they get in the boat as much as they can. This past April, the couple welcomed their daughter, Bailey Brooke, into the world. Dr. Frame says that "it is an amazing experience to become a mommy and to watch Jeff become a daddy." She also says that the last three months have consisted of a little less time outdoors, and a lot more diapers! Bailey is the best part of their day, and they are in love with her smile.

Dr. Frame says the she chose Ob-Gyn as a specialty because she loves the long-term continuity that the profession provides, and she feels at home in the operating room. "This unique field allows me to blend both of these. I am able to do preventative care and continue taking care of patients if a surgical issue arises," she says. In terms of professional areas of interest, Dr. Frame is a self-proclaimed generalist. She enjoys helping patients navigate the full range of women's issues.

Dr. Frame interviewed for jobs at places other than Mobile Ob-Gyn, P.C., but felt most at home here. She says that "everyone in this group is kind, welcoming, and personable." She also likes that the doctors in our group keep each other accountable by discussing the latest medical articles and evaluating their own outcomes. She says that Mobile Ob-Gyn has everything she was looking for in a practice.

Dr. Frame is now accepting patients. To book an appointment with her, call our office at (251) 633-0793.

Fallen Off the Weight-Loss Wagon?
Mobile Ob-Gyn's Customized Program,
Vitality, Offers Renewed Hope for a
Successful New Year’s Resolution – For Life!

Mobile, AL (March 30, 2012) - When it comes to winning the battle of the bulge, maintaining weight loss success - long-term - proves difficult for many men and women. Others, armed with grand resolutions for exercise and dieting in January, lose momentum by Spring, falling short of their goals just as swimsuit season arrives. One local physician group is committed to meeting these all-too-common challenges head on.

Vitality: Adventures in Conscious Eating is a physician-managed nutrition program designed to help clients achieve optimum physical, emotional and intellectual health for life. The 12-week program offers ongoing support and tangible solutions for specific maintenance challenges beyond the first three months to keep 'graduates' inspired to maintain their positive new habits.

For a nominal fee, Vitality graduates may also participate in monthly maintenance sessions; hosted the second Monday of every month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the office of Mobile Ob Gyn, P.C. Upcoming six-month scheduled topics include:

December 2012 - June 2013

December 10: ‘Tis The Season – Ways to better survive the holiday food temptations

January 14: New Year’s Revolution – How to make healthier choices stick not just for the New Year, but for the rest of your life

February 11: Mindfulness of Eating – Feeling the Satisfaction of Eating Well

March 11: Quality of Calories – Why not all calories are the same

April 8: Stress & Distress – Strategies for disconnecting feelings from food

May 13: Making Meal Planning Easy – Learning to plan meals and make the most out of grocery shopping

June 10: Eating Out the Healthy Way – Learning how to make healthy choices when dining out

"Vitality has changed my relationship with food," notes Vitality participant, Donna Ganzarain. "The talk sessions with nutrionist Jackie have empowered me to make the right choices. Weight loss is a daily decision, not a quick-fix. Vitality gives you the knowledge and support to do that for life, she continues. Donna will graduate from the program in mid April.

The program includes:

  • An initial wellness panel that includes blood tests (CBC, cholesterol and metabolic panel, vitamin D, and inflammatory markers) to gauge your overall health
  • A custom meal plan based on your lifestyle and personal preferences
  • Weekly knowledge and inspiration sessions with program team

The weekly knowledge and information sessions include handouts on topics related to food and wellness. Each participant also meets one-on-one with licensed counselor, Angie Lewis, M.S., who is skilled in creating a caring, confidential, non judgmental atmosphere for the individual to express their weight loss struggles and learn new behaviors that will help aid in lifestyle success. Clients learn:

  • What foods to eat. Plus, why some foods should be avoided while others can be eaten in abundance.
  • Why food is as powerful as drugs when it comes to your emotional and intellectual health. The hormone effects of food, especially the hormones that are involved in the feelings of hunger and fullness, will be explained.
  • Why the proportion of protein, fat and carbohydrates in your diet is critical in allowing your body to burn fat, maintain muscle, and, most of all, control hunger.

Want to learn more about the program and meet the Vitality team? Join us April 10, 2012, at the Mobile Ob-Gyn clinic lobby at Providence Hospital. The reception, including healthy refreshments and discussion begin at 6 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, call 251.633-0793 x1.
